Innovation, pivoting, and a new book. That’s the subject of today’s interview.

My guest is Stephen Shapiro. Stephen is an international speaker, having spoken in over 50 countries. He is the author of a half-dozen books.

The reason I want to introduce you to his work has to do with his thoughts on innovation. When a pandemic hit our world, a great changed in a hurry. Entire industries could no longer do what they did.

We started hearing the word “pivot” a great deal. In other words, we’re moving in a new direction. Stephen Shapiro has a different take. If you think about a basket player making a pivot, one foot stays in place while the other moves. Far too many people start in a new direction by leaving everything behind.

In Stephen’s latest book Pivotal: Creating Stability in an Uncertain World, Stephen gives us a refreshing alternative: Focus on what should remain constant.

Pivotal released in mid June and was Amazon’s #1 new release in Strategic Management.
